» TAKE A FOURTH FULL YEAR OF COLLEGE-PREPARATORY ENGLISH.

» BE SURE TO MEET YOUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR at the beginning of the school year to ensure that you will have completed all University of California admission requirements by the end of your senior year.

» ATTEND ANY ADMISSION AND FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION WORKSHOPS that might be offered at your school.

» SUBMIT YOUR UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA APPLICATION during the month of November. Find out from your school counselor whether or not you qualify for an application fee waiver.

» PREPARE THE PERSONAL STATEMENT required with your University of California application early in the application process. Ask your counselor or a favorite teacher for critical feedback on your Personal Statement.

» TAKE THE SAT early in your senior year if you have not already done so.

» IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, try to visit those college campuses to which you have applied. Visiting colleges is one of the best ways to decide whether or not the campus is right for you.

» SUBMIT YOUR FREE APPLICATION for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 2 deadline.

» IF YOU ARE ADMITTED to a University of California campus, be sure to follow-up with all requested documents—such as official copies of transcripts—by the dates noted. » BE SURE TO SUBMIT your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to the University of California campus you plan to attend by the May 1 deadline.
